It seems that for as long as people can remember, Ireland has long been a source of great female singers. However Heidi Talbot’s breakthrough solo release, 2008’s In Love + Light swiftly assured her promotion to the top flight.
On Saturday the 12th May, this Irish songwriter will be coming to the Liverpool at the Unity Theatre on Hope Street where she will be performing the songs that have made her a sensation and which has had the Daily Telegraph’s Colin Irwin praise her and suggests that, “Talbot is primed and ready for crossover success.”
The album, In Love + Light, may have seen Heidi widely hailed as a major new talent, but its first seeds were sown years before in rural Co. Kildare, where she grew up as the middle of nine children, singing along to her mum’s radio favourites and her brother’s record collection, everything from Nana Mouskouri to the Pogues and perhaps more traditionally, in the local school choir.
Music critics have drawn comparisons to her style as diverse as Bjork, Enya, Linda Ronstadt, Norah Jones and Kirsty MacColl. On that type of recommendation it would be a shame to miss what promises to be an excellent night of music.
Tickets for this intimate performance are available from the Unity Theatre Box-office, online at www.unitytheatreliverpool.co.uk or by telephone on 0844 8732888. Tickets are priced at £12.
