The excitement is mounting in the build up to this Sunday’s Hairdresser of the Year Awards.

Voodou are staging a special ‘ twisted circus’  theme for this must attend event at Cream which will feature live competition heats, a special show from Voodou’s Art Team, plus a unique line up of live music, DJs and circus performances. Proceeds will go to Claire House Children’s Hospice.

Entrepreneur Thelma Madine of Gypsy Wedding fame has been announced as chief judge of the competition which is aimed at showcasing and celebrating hairdressing talent from across the city.

Thelma said: “I am absolutely delighted to be judging the awards. Liverpool is recognised as being synonymous with style and the event is all about recognising creativity and innovation in hairdressing. Already we can see from the entries that the standards are incredibly high so it’s clear I am going to have some tough decisions ahead of me. But it promises to be a really great day that will raise vital funds for Claire House and unveil some exciting new talent in the industry. I can’t wait!”

Voodou’s Founder and Managing Director, Rob Webb said, “We have worked with Thelma before when we made the award winning red dress out of human hair. She is an inspirational and successful Liverpool entrepreneur who is also incredibly talented so it’s brilliant that she has agreed to do this for us.

“Tickets are still available to buy online. It will be a fantastic event for Liverpool and we want as many people as possible to buy tickets, support the awards and enjoy a great show.”

The Hairdresser of the Year Awards will take place on Sunday 27 May from 3.30pm at Cream. Tickets cost £5.
