As August draws to a close, the student population’s thoughts no doubt turn to their impending return to University. Whether you’re a fresher, second or third year, it’s likely you’ll be investing in some new clothes alongside your pots, pans and stationery. Whilst you maybe tempted to stock up on clothes that are more suitable for Heebies than the Harold Cohen, it’s important to remember you will need some items that can see you through the lectures and seminars that you do attend in style. Here at LSMedia, we’ve put together a list of a few essential items to invest in for Autumn 2013.
Whilst Liverpool can be full of weather based surprises (October 2011 heatwave, anyone?) the likelihood is that by the end of September you’ll be forced to endure rain and wind to get to where you’re going. Ballet flats in this situation are entirely useless, and it’s not quite time to get your boots out. Brogues are the perfect in-between, and are widely available: go leather if you’re in it for the long term, synthetic if you just want them to see you through. The Office brogues pictured below are a great sale bargain, but if they’re out of your budget, Primark and New Look have some great alternatives.
Autumn – not warm enough for short sleeves, not cold enough for a coat. Jumpers are the ideal solution. Camouflage is massive this season and a classic knit (ZARA and Mango offer good quality at lower prices) is always spot on. American sportswear style is also in – so if you’re feeling loyal, pick up a University of Liverpool jumper from the guild shop.
Another ideal fix for an ever decreasing temperature, midi skirts are a great investment. Extremely versatile, you can dress them up or down, and wear them with virtually any style of footwear. If you’re feeling especially brave, tartan kilts have been all over the catwalks – I’ve picked out this ASOS pencil skirt as a more subtle way of taking on the trend.
