In just seven days Lambrini Liverpool Fashion Week will be sweeping the city.
Monday’s launch night will see the Royal Liver Building graced with a ‘couture glamour’ themed runway, showcasing designers from all over the country.
Wednesday evening will see a show based around new local talent. Sponsored by Liverpool City Council, one up-and-coming designer will win a rent-free pop-up shop in the Cavern Quarter with fashion agency Model101 and £500 towards starting their business. Buyers from ASOS will be 0n the judges’ panel.
Thursday’s theme is ‘Asian fusion’, with designers flying in from Pakistan and Boston – one designer is reported to have made her entire collection out of living plants.
Friday ‘urban hipster’ theme sees the high street take over, with brands including New Look, Mango, Dorothy Perkins and Boux Avenue.
Saturday’s closing show is ‘Scouse proud’, a celebration of what Liverpool does best, although whether the Scouse bird look will be welcome is uncertain – LFW hit the nationals last year when event director Amanda Moss banned over-the-top fake tan and lashes from her catwalks.
For the first time in its four-year run, LFW is encouraging students to get involved in fashion; there will be free workshops on sewing and on modelling with Model101 as well as talks on styling, designing and how to get into the fashion industry from designers themselves.
Each night will showcase music from up-and-coming artists and the team is committed to promoting healthy models and safe tanning.
