Ladies, the season of love is upon us! With the weather getting chilly, there is no better time to cuddle up in bed all day in your favourite Christmas jumper with a hot chocolate in hand. Unfortunately, we still have to make our way to lectures so why not brave the cold with your best look. Here are some of the stand-out trends for this season, mostly inspired by the Autumn/Winter Fashion Week.
Topknots and ultra-winged eyeliner
A major feature at the Paris Fashion Week was the tightly coiled topknots paired with thick brows and super-winged eyeliner flicks. Unlike many trends off the catwalk, this one is very much practical and wearable for everyday life, as thick brows are totally in right now. Although a more subtle eyeliner wing will perhaps be best.
The 60s baby-doll thick wispy lash (think Twiggy) is back! When it comes to lashes, think big, bold and long. You can achieve this look with the L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara (available at Superdrug for £10.99)
Metallic smoky eyes
Eyes are clearly the focus across the board this season, with bold, metallic hues at the centre stage. While this may not be wearable as an everyday look, they are a definite go-to for nights out. To achieve a softer smoky eye, you can stick to browns and nudes rather than blacks. Move from daytime smoky mattes to nighttime smoky metallic like a pro with the Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow palette (available at Debenhams for £33.30).
Nude lips are one of those trends that never seem to go away. Classy, minimal and wearable, there’s a shade for every girl – from satin and rose to ballet pink and golden brown.
Forget autumn golds, this is the season of the electric blues. From bold blue liners on one lid, be it a top lid flick or a bottom lid line, to rich metallic eye shadow looks, all you have to do is decide how to wear it.
They are here to stay. Pointy nails have been in for a while now and do not seem to be going out of style any time soon. This may be attributed to their alluring feminine look and the design creativity they allow the wearers. Incorporate another one of the season’s trends with metallic nail polish.
Seemingly contrary to the nude-lip trend, the bold red lips were yet another feature at this season’s fashion shows. They make a comeback every fall and stay popular over the winter. Wearable during the day and at night, they bring that vivid pop of colour to any look. A personal favourite is the Inglot 409 lipstick (available at Inglot for £13).
Dewy barely-there skin coverage
This look is flawless and minimal. Not many are lucky enough to have blemish-free skin but this can be fixed with concealer and a lightweight foundation or BB cream. Try the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation for that blemish-free, barely-there look (available at Charlotte Tilbury for £32).
