Liverpool Student Media got a chance to sit down with some of the candidates running for Guild president and ask them a couple of questions.
What subject are you studying?
What year of study are you in?
Where are you from?
The Canary Islands, Spain.
Are you a member of any societies?
I am currently President of the Dover Court Halls Student Committee, where I organise social events, I am also part of the Sailing Society (when the weather permits)
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Sailing and socialising
What do you love most about Liverpool?
It’s a big city but it’s condensed, everything is really close by, my halls are 5 minutes from uni and 10 minutes to town, it’s great!
Give us one little known fact about you…
I used to work as a divemaster in Spain.
What made you decide to stand for election?
As president of my halls, I have been suffering all the issues the guild has. For example, I held a movie night in the Guild where they provided us with a laptop, but it didn’t work. Essentially, I want to make it easier for societies to host events. One of my key points is that we are all doing it together, the students, the University and the Guild.
Outline the key points of your manifesto…
I want to bring the Guild and students closer together
I aim to remove bureaucratic barriers affecting societies
I feel we need to push for innovation and implementation of new technology
Sum up your campaign in 5 words or less…
Together, for a better guild.
