Summer’s officially here. The sun is out, the clothing is awkwardly sparse and festivals are on everyone’s mind. Kicking off festival season between the 11th and 14th of June is the Eden Festival, known as Scotland’s Boutique Festival with it’s commitment to independent, unsigned acts and the idea of community spirit.

Eden is even interesting enough to come with it’s own set of ‘principles and objectives’, namely to involve young people and the community, to support local and national creativity, to support the area of Dumfries and Galloway and to have an environmentally conscious approach to it all. It’s ethical stuff.

Fresh off the back of summer exams, Eden makes the journey up north worth it with over 250 acts appearing over the weekend across 9 stages, including The Cat Empire, Grandmaster Flash, Ms Dynamite and Quantic; not to mention the decorations and arts, cabaret and burlesque, theatre, crafts and workshops. You can even drag your family with you and make a holiday of it, it is after all one of The Times‘ top family-friendly U.K. festivals. Oh, and Mr. Motivator will be there.

Eden Festival takes place in Dumfries’ Raehill Meadows. Tickets are currently priced at £99 for the whole weekend and can be bought at the official website, and don’t forget the fancy dress theme, it’s ‘intergalactic’; don’t worry, you’ll look great.
