It’s the second day of Liverpool Fashion Week 2015 and all eyes are focused on the catwalk for the finale of tonight’s shows.
Rihanna’s ‘7/11’ comes over the speakers and outsteps a model donning nipple tassels, a cropped black wig, high waisted knickers and a killer pair of heels. Overflowing with confidence, she struts down the catwalk and strikes a pose.
You’ve just witnessed the jaw-dropping birth of Amentium.
Specialising in risqué lingerie, swimwear and latex, Amentium (which translates from Latin to mean infatuation and madness – a fitting title, don’t you think?) is founded by Helen Teiman who states that she gets her inspiration from “French Renaissance designs and Ancient Roman aesthetics which we fuse together to create an idiosyncratic style and a postmodern edge.”
The beginning of the show featured models in all kinds of racy lingerie sets which seemed to have a ‘Moulin Rouge’ burlesque feel to them through the black lace and jet black bobbed wigs. Judging by the audience’s gasps of amazement and overwhelming applause, it was safe to say these girls were killing it on the runway.
The swimwear collection followed and it was like taking a step into the future of summer 2016 and I already felt myself trying to decide which costume I wanted to take on holiday the most. It was hard to decide which would catch the eye of everyone on the beach the most – the cool blue or radiant red… Making these swim suits even more appealing is the fact that each one is custom made so they are guaranteed to be a perfect fit.
And last but by no means least came the latex collection. I had done my homework before the show and was aware of this collection and apprehensive to say the least – no-one wants to look like they’re wearing a swimming cap as a dress – but these worries were thrown out of the window from the first moment I cast eyes on the outfits. Teiman pulled off this risky material with ease and flair as the models rocked a mixture of dresses, body suits, and two piece sets. A personal favourite of mine was the cream and blue skater dress but all of the collection made me have major outfit envy.
Teiman made some bold choices for the opening of her company, but sure pulled it off and knows how to get heads turning.
Now it’s just a matter of saving every scrap of my student loan to place an order on the entirety of the collection…
