Yet another branch of the global sandwich chain is set to open on campus on Saturday 22nd October at 8:30 AM.
It became apparent that the fast food giant would be opening a restaurant on the old site of Blackwell’s bookshop this week, when signs were spotted on the empty retailer’s windows.
This comes just two weeks after South Campus launched a Subway. Its location in University Square will mean the newest subway restaurant will be just a few feet away from the original Subway branch on north campus.
Subway is the largest fast food chain in the world, with over 33,700 restaurants – that’s over a thousand more than McDonalds. Still, some students were sceptical about the need for a third Subway.
Recent Liverpool graduate Tom Edwards said: “There will be Pret next. You wait. They’ve already taken over London.”
