“Would not look out of place in the West End.” Sevenoaks Chronicle
“The unique ballads, chorus numbers and up-tempo pieces certainly boost the production.” The Stage
“The Railway Children” is a classic tale about a family who are living a comfortable life in a house nestled in affluent London. This idyllic life is rocked when the father of the family is falsely accused of spying and is imprisoned for his supposed crimes. Roberta, Phyllis, Peter and their Mother are forced into a far more simple life in the rolling hills of Yorkshire. To prove their Father’s innocence, the children go to all the lengths they can. Making friends with an old gentleman who takes the 9.15 train to London daily and the station master Mr Perks proves to be the ultimate solution to all of their problems as they help to prove their father’s innocence. In an emotional reunion scene, the family are back together and all is well. Ever loving and caring, the family look after a Russian exile called Mr Szczepansky who has come to England looking for his family and is also the grandson of the old gentleman Jim, who breaks his leg in a tunnel. “The Railway Children” is one not to miss; it is a tear jerker and an incredibly powerful piece of drama.
