Well loved Baltic Triangle nightclub 24 Kitchen Street has lost it’s on-going battle against developers.
Plans by developer Songbird to build a new apartment complex in Blundell Street have been controversial since they came to light.
Despite strong objections from Kitchen Street, the £40m development to build 200 flats was today given the go ahead by a planning committee meeting, passed by eight votes to one.
24 Kitchen Street fear they will be forced into closure due to noise complaints from residents of the two-block scheme if plans for the apartments were to go forward. This verdict opens up such a possibility.
The club made a statement regarding the decision via it’s Facebook page:
“Deeply unhappy with the way things went at the planning hearing today.”
“Despite valiant efforts and widespread support, Liverpool Council chose to overlook our objections and accept the residential… application next door ‘as is’.”
“Massive thanks to everyone who’s supported us this far, we’ve gone too far to turn back. Anyone know a good barrister?”
