During the beginning of term, many new students will be spending time in and out of the Guild, whether it be for a freshers event, to grab a drink and a bite to eat, or maybe if you’ve just stumbled upon it whilst trying to navigate your way around campus.
Although the Guild is host to many large events and popular social spaces, it is at the heart of campus for a reason, and has a lot to offer during your time at the University of Liverpool.
Founded in 1889, the Liverpool Guild of Students is the award winning Student’s Union for the University of Liverpool, and is located at the top of Mount Pleasant, near University Square. Creating a home for each of the 22,00 students at the University of Liverpool, the Guild works to ensure that every student gets the most out of student life beyond getting their degree.
The Guild is not only a popular venue for students, but offers access to the public, hosting regular live music, comedy and theatre from big names such as Russell Kane, Sundara Karma and American rapper Nelly.
Offering something for everyone, the building consists of the Courtyard, The Sphinx bar, The Shop, Starbucks, Mountford Hall, Stanley Theatre, and multiple rooms which are used on a daily basis by one of the 200+ societies that students can be a part of! Whether you choose to be a part of your academic society, celebrating culture and faith, student media and more, the Guild will play a vital role in providing the best space for you to thrive during your time on campus.
The Guild also opens its doors to events organised by societies, volunteering organisations, voting in annual student elections and getting a great deal on cocktails and beverages at the best student prices! Some of these successful events include fundraisers for societies and local charities and showcases put on by our performing arts societies.
As a UoL student, you are automatically a member of the Guild and have access to all information, facilities and events which are advertised on the Guilds official website and on their social media.
