Performing Arts at the University of Liverpool extends to all forms of dance, and Bhangra is one society that is evident of this. If you love performing and want to learn a traditional style of dance in an exciting environment, meet the Liverpool Bhangra Society!
What is Bhangra?
‘Bhangra is a fusion of music and dance which originates from the Punjab region of India and Pakistan.’
‘Founded in January 2013, The University of Liverpool Bhangra society has slowly grown in size and members, with the aim to spread our love for Punjabi Folk Dance and aspire to educate and involve people from all backgrounds and faiths to join us in a dance form that we love!
Despite being brought up as the British youth of today, we all feel strongly about embracing our culture. Through Bhangra we have managed to do so and have been able to spread our passion for this traditional punjabi dance form! We have regular dance classes held in the Guild, we aim to organise socials ranging from cosy film nights to organised club nights out, we cater to all! We have also taken part in UK competitions for the last two years, such as competing in Capital Bhangra 2016 and 2017, which took lots of hard work and dedication over many months of rehearsals!’
Every Monday, the Dance Studio, the Guild, 7:30-8:30pm
