Manchester-born lyrical wordsmith Liam Fray has promised a run of stripped-back intimate acoustic shows reminiscent of his previous solo ventures back in 2013. The upcoming gig at the Liverpool O2 Academy on 30 October will be an opportunity for Fray to play around with performing the lesser known tracks and B-sides, and perhaps even an insight into some new material. The Courteeners frontman will be playing a run of thirteen dates across the UK, seeing him finish off with two nights closer to home at Manchester’s Albert Hall early this November.

Whilst the band is known for instigating high-spirited crowds and energetic scenes during their festival and live performances, Fray’s upcoming shows will see him return to a chilled out and jovial atmosphere where he can make the most of his freedom to experiment with set-lists and experience the reactions of a more intimate audience.

Courteeners fans often get a glimpse of Liam Fray’s laid-back acoustics which make an appearance in characterful Courteeners style during their animated live shows, yet Fray candidly admits that attendees should expect a ‘relaxed’ atmosphere rather than anything too structured and professional.

Marking a year since the release of their fifth album ‘Mapping the Rendezvous’, Liam Fray has expressed a desire to take a step back whilst continuing his love for performing, and so the occasion will enable him to rediscover anthems and rarities from the band’s impressively dynamic decade-long back catalogue which has continuously been matched with a devoted following.

“All we ever do is try to be honest, be passionate, and those things are underrated. Honesty and passion. We’re not just your average two-bat, only-got-a-couple-of-songs…every song we play people go nuts for it. It confuses us half the time. They love B-sides, album tracks so much. It’s humbling.” -Liam Fray
