It can sometimes prove to be a little tricky to find a contemporary and vibrant restaurant that also serves vegetarian and vegan options. But much to my delight I came across Las Iguanas and I was definitely not disappointed! A friend and I were greeted and shown to a table almost immediately and the service was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant’s decor keeps to the theme of the cuisine with bright and exciting colours creating an exotic and holiday like feel. It can be found in the heart of Liverpool One making it the perfect stop for a food break during a shopping trip or for a bite to eat before a night out.

The South American themed menu boasts a selection of delicious and classic dishes which is what makes this restaurant so unique. After a long time trying to decide between lots of tasty choices I decided to have the Moqueca De Palmitos which I asked for as a vegan dish. This is butternut squash, palm hearts and spinach in a creamy coconut curry with charred red peppers, garlic and fresh tomatoes. It is also served with spring onion rice, sweet plantain, pico de Gallo and a coconut farofa to sprinkle. My friend went for the shredded beef braised in chipotle burrito. This was a wheat tortilla stuffed with shredded beef, chipotle rice, refried beans, crunchy slaw and cheese with salad, soured cream, guacamole and roasted tomato salsa on the side. There was a tempting selection of desserts from a creamy caramel cake to a mango sorbet. Las Iguanas is a place you must definitely visit for their mouth-watering foods, modern design and excellent service!

Las Iguanas also allows students to use their student discount cards, so how can you say no! But if you’re feeling a little tired after all that study, feeling hungover after a night out or if you just fancy a night in on the sofa then you can still enjoy the taste of South American cuisine by ordering their food straight to your door!
