National Pizza Day only happens once a year so what better way to celebrate the occasion then heading to one of Liverpool’s very own restaurants. The city is buzzing with culinary pizza delights that will most definitely brighten up your day. Although, we have already offered readers an abundance of deals and offers we are sure students will love, we also want to highlight the talented restaurants and independent pizza joints that we have on our door step and we can happily say are very much part of the city.
Maguire’s Pizza Bar
When The Sphinx visited Maguire’s Pizza Bar in 2017 it was safe to say we left very full and pleased with the food and service. It is the perfect pizza joint to visit this National Pizza Day if you are vegan, veggie, gluten free or a meat eater, no-one is left out at Maguire’s. I can happily admit that after my first visit I have become a regular Maguire’s fan, visiting the pizza bar whenever I feel like a slice of their vegan meatball pizza. American Pizza Slice
American Pizza Slice has a commitment to the love of good pizza so we figured it would be a pretty good place to include a visit on National Pizza Day. With their three busy restaurants located on Bold Street, Whitechapel and South Road we are spoilt for choice where to visit first. So even after a hectic week of lectures and endless essays American Pizza Slice can definitely put a smile on your face with their options of takeaway, delivery and sit-in restaurant/pizza bar. So, what have they got on offer? Their delicious ‘The Spanish Pizza’ is a new edition to their menu, with its shredded chicken, chorizo, smoked cheese and picante peppers. Or there’s the ‘All Day Breakfast’ topped with Cumberland sausage, bacon, black pudding, tomatoes and mushrooms. And my personal favourite has to be the ‘Vegetarian Hot’ with the roasted peppers, mushrooms and courgette but be aware this option is very hot because of the fresh chillies. American Pizza Slice creations doesn’t finish there but has even more mouth-watering options to choose from.
Another student favourite can be found on Bold street where you’ll be transported to pizza heaven in Crust. Their friendly and atmospheric restaurant will be the perfect place to properly celebrate this special day. Truly Italian pizzas with creative twists are sure to please any pizza lover. When I last visited Crust I ordered the classic Margherita on the Five Grain crust. Crust even offers customers four types of crust in order to make your pizza perfect for you, there’s a choice between ‘Crust Original’, ‘Five Grain’, ‘Organic’ and ‘Black Dough’. There is also a selection of pizzas without a tomato base or ‘pizzafficionos’ which are extra special.
The Italian Club
The Italian Club located on Bold Street is the best place for fresh authentically Italian pizza. It is all about the thin and crispy homemade bases here in order for customers to get the true tastes of Italy. The Italian Club is the place to be for a traditional celebration of good pizza in Liverpool on National Pizza Day.
Happy National Pizza Day!
