University of Liverpool societies Help the Homeless and Ellipsis have collaborated for a roof-raising charity event, raising money for refugee organisations in Liverpool. The event will take place Wednesday the 21st of February at Studio2 Parr Street. Second release tickets are currently on sale for £6.00 including booking fee, with 100% of ticket sale profits going to MerseyAid and MRANG.
Merseyaid is a grassroots organisation which ‘is committed to providing support to refugees crossing Europe displaced from their homes due to conflict and or persecution and to enabling people within Merseyside who have arrived, often with nothing, with assistance to integrate into their community.’ For more information regarding Merseyaid, you can read here.
MRANG works specially with female asylum seekers and refugees, this includes victims of trafficking, sexual violence and human rights abuses. Their vision is ‘justice, humanity and healing for those in fear of persecution, torture or punishment’. For more information on this charity, you can read here.
The charity gig features a range of up and coming talent from across the UK. The line up features Forrest, The Adlets, Skinner’s Lane, Gazelle, The Seamonsters, and are headlined by Liverpool based band, We Were Glue.
