Citizens Advice, the UK’s largest advice charity, have recently started a new initiative in their Liverpool branch – The Student Ambassador Programme. With over 140 volunteers in Liverpool already, this is a great way to enhance your CV and give back to the local community.

Well known amongst the legal community for its reputable work, volunteering with Citizens Advice is incredibly rewarding. Citizens Advice Liverpool helps people resolve issues surrounding debt, legal issues, employment and more. They are currently seeking students who are willing to give up a few hours a week to volunteer at one of their centres. The role includes engaging with the public, office administration, puzzle solving, and using your initiative to achieve the best outcome for the client. Whether you have previous experience or not, this is a great way to learn new skills, meet new people, and engage with the public.

This programme is ideal for those considering a legal role, or any kind of political or public role in the future, but you don’t have to be a Law or Politics student to get involved. If you’re creative and inventive, you can help organise fundraising events, contribute to marketing the charity, and help engage with the university community. So whatever your academic subject, you can get involved, make a difference, and expand your knowledge in both the legal and charity sector.

To get involved as a volunteer, simply send a CV and cover letter to

The University of Liverpool Student Ambassador position is also currently vacant, and includes management and administrative tasks in addition to the volunteering. If you are interested in being considered for this role,  indicate this in the subject line for the same email above. The deadline for applications is the 1st June. If you feel you are suited to this role, regardless of previous experience, now is the time to apply!
