The University of Liverpool’s Help the Homeless Society is searching for volunteers to help with their weekly sandwich collection. This is a perfect way to get involved with helping those in need and supporting the society with all their work. It’s simple and easy, only taking up to 30 minutes or even less out of your day.
Liverpool Guild of Students has collections Wednesday, Thursday and Friday every week. The collection involves picking up sandwiches from the Guild shop at 5:15pm and taking them to the Whitechapel Centre. To sign up, use the link here and remember to include your phone number so you can receive a reminder text from the team.
Starbucks coffee has collections Monday to Friday every week. Collect sandwiches from from Starbucks at 7:50pm and take them to Mildmay House. To sign up, use the link here and once again, do remember to include your phone number so you can receive a reminder text from the team.
Both venues are located only about a 10 to 15 minute walk from campus. There are two slots available if you would prefer to do it with a friend because of the early winter nights.
Also don’t forget the Do Good Disco, which involves Help the Homeless Society plus 10 other societies to make one big party! Money raised at the event will go towards Liverpool’s societies committed to helping our community. These societies include Help the Homeless, Free Education, UoL Labour Students, Student Action for Refugees, Amnesty International, Mental Health Society, Nature Conservation, Bee Keeping Society, British Sign Language Society, LGBT Society and Feminist Society.
Disco date – Wednesday 21st November 9pm -3am at District. Tickets are available on the Guild’s website which can be accessed here or for more information, visit the event on Facebook via their Facebook page.
