The Sphinx is the official student newspaper of the University of Liverpool, connecting the city’s student population with the latest news, events & student opinion.
Established in 1893, The Sphinx is one of the oldest student newspapers in the UK.
The Sphinx embodies the best of old and new: in 2015, then-Editor Natasha Kondrashova decided to resurrect and rebrand The Sphinx. Since then, our team of Editors has been working tirelessly to create the independent, daring and vibrant student newspaper we think Liverpool students deserve.
We’re run by student volunteers – this means we’re always looking for new writers and contributors. It’s not just writing; we have annual opportunities in editing, business and marketing, website design and more.
We’re also a student society – outside of our Wednesday evening meetings, we have regular socials: in 2017, we had meals, casual drinks, themed bar crawls, fashion festival visits and more.
