TheSphinx.co.uk is a lifestyle magazine for young Liverpool, covering the arts, food, culture and future of one of the most exciting cities in the country.

Our content covers insights from both those that were born and raised in Liverpool, and those who made it their home (often as a result of a university placement) and wish to document the happening of the city.

The Sphinx is an open platform for young writers. We are always looking for new contributors to the site, and welcome those that wish to get their voices heard. If you would like to share any stories or opinions, get in contact by emailing info@thesphinx.co.uk with pitches.

History

The Sphinx was formerly the official student newspaper of the University of Liverpool, connecting the city’s student population with the latest news, events & student opinion.

Established in 1893, The Sphinx was one of the oldest student newspapers in the UK, and run by student volunteers. The site is now run and operated for a broader audience.

The Sphinx’s web rebirth led to a number of awards, including:

  • Winner of ‘Biggest Impact on University Community’ at the Guild Awards 2017
  • Student Media Society of the Year 2015
  • Shortlisted for ‘Best Student Website’ in the Guardian Student Media Awards 2011
