Singles out 13th November: Take Me Home – Jess Glynne What a fantastic year it’s been for London-born singer Jess Glynne: three number 1 singles; a number 1 album; a guest judge on The X Factor; and to top it off Jess can now tick ‘Children In Need charity song’ off her list of achievement. Take Me Home, the fifth cut to be taken from début album I Cry When I Laugh, shows off Jess’ emotional side as she sings for her longing to return home when suffering from a broken soul. It’s charity song material through-and-through, and it...

Singles released 6th November: Adventure of a Lifetime – Coldplay Coldplay, arguably the biggest band in the world at the moment, have done a Beyonce and dropped a new single out of the blue, as well as announce their seventh studio album which is to be released in less than a month’s time. Adventure of a Lifetime has a noticeably more disco sound than their previous material, and the combination of Martin’s smooth vocals with vibrant pop-filled rhythms create a feel-good track that is compellingly addictive. Focus – Ariana Grande After a short break of only one year, twenty-two year old American singer Ariana Grande returns with Focus – the lead single for her third studio album Moonlight, and unfortunately the song fails to deliver the pop perfection that we’ve come to expect from the former Nickelodeon star. Fingers crossed single number two will see...

Singles out 23rd October Hello – Adele A new Adele song? Five whole years after the release of her last album? Surely I’m dreaming? Is this real life? These questions were likely asked by many across the globe when Adele dropped her new song Hello yesterday, and now that we’ve had a day to process this information, it’s time to ask another question: is it any good? The answer is yes (obviously), though don’t expect it to blow you away like previous singles Rolling in the Deep and Skyfall on first listen. Instead, the song starts slowly and builds up to...

Singles out 16th October: Perfect – One Direction Reviewing a single by an artist such as One Direction can often prove difficult, as it is very tempting to immediately dismiss the track without giving it the attention it deserves. Second single for upcoming album Made in the A.M., Perfect, is a surprisingly catchy pop song that is reminiscent of Taylor Swift’s Style, though it never manages to reach the lofty heights of pop perfection that has become effortless for Harry’s old flame. It may not have the hook of previous single Drag Me Down, but Perfect is a fine example of...
